One pane of glass over a prosecution authority’s data center
The same Zabbix and Grafana combination, extended across a national prosecution authority’s entire data-center estate — flexible enough to cover every layer, and markedly cheaper than the Prometheus deployment it replaced.
A national prosecution authority needed dependable eyes on the data center behind its case and records systems, without paying to run a monitoring platform made of many parts. Khwarizm brought the combination it runs for other public institutions: Zabbix as the single collection-and-alerting engine, Grafana as the single dashboard. One stack now covers the estate end to end — and it costs less to run than the Prometheus setup it took the place of.
From a stack of parts to one stack
The previous approach leaned on Prometheus with its usual companions — exporters, separate storage, and Alertmanager. Capable, but every piece was another thing to size, patch, and fund. For an institution that would rather spend on its mission than on monitoring plumbing, that overhead was the problem to solve.
Flexible enough for the whole estate
Khwarizm deployed Zabbix as the one engine across the data-center estate, collecting from network devices, and Linux and Windows servers alike, with auto-discovery and templates so new hosts are covered the day they go in. Grafana reads Zabbix — and anything else already in place — onto dashboards tuned per audience: an operations wall board, a working view for engineers, and an availability view for leadership.
Because the same stack speaks to every layer, coverage is a matter of adding a template, not adopting another product. The estate can grow and change, and the monitoring simply follows it.
Cheaper to run, and easier to keep
Both tools are open source and self-hosted, with no per-metric licensing and far fewer components than the Prometheus deployment they replaced. That is where the cost came out — fewer moving parts to operate, and no fee that scales with every metric collected. The authority got broader, clearer visibility for less than it had been paying for narrower.
One engine, one dashboard, running on our own infrastructure — we see more of the data center than before, and we pay less to do it.
The results
The authority now runs its data-center monitoring on one flexible, open-source combination that covers the whole estate and grows with it — at a running cost well below the multi-part deployment it replaced. The flexibility and the affordability are two sides of the same choice.
