Cloud migration

Move off VMware, on your terms

Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware, and the licensing changes that followed, have pushed organizations worldwide to rethink their virtualization strategy. OpenStack — the open-source standard for cloud infrastructure — has emerged as the leading alternative: more than 80% of OpenInfra Foundation members report customers already migrating workloads off VMware.

OpenStack’s flexibility and open development let you:

  • Cut cost — a cost-effective virtualization strategy, free of vendor lock-in
  • Modernize — infrastructure built on a cloud-native strategy
  • Customize — a stack shaped to you, with far more integration options
  • Draw on a global ecosystem — a diverse, active open-source contributor base
  • Keep ownership — complete control of your own infrastructure

We plan and run the move end to end — workload assessment, migration off VMware, and steady-state operation of your new OpenStack platform.

From CAPEX to OPEX — retiring aging hardware on OCI

We moved a leading fertilizer producer’s Oracle core to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as the primary site — turning a large hardware purchase into a predictable monthly cost, with DR kept on hardware they already owned. 6,500+ Forms and 6,900 reports migrated with zero failures.

Frequently asked questions

Can you migrate to the cloud without stopping the business?

Yes. FRESH Home Appliances’ SAP database moved from POWER to AWS with a six-hour cutover against a three-week plan, and airline and airport platforms have been re-platformed with no downtime.

Does moving to cloud really change the cost shape?

It can. A leading Egyptian fertilizer producer avoided a major hardware refresh by moving its Oracle database and applications to OCI as the primary site, turning capital expenditure into operating expenditure.

Which clouds do you work with?

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and AWS in production today, plus Kubernetes-based platforms that run the same way in a customer’s own data center.

What about resilience once we are in the cloud?

We build it in — for example Oracle Data Guard on AWS for FRESH, so the platform stays resilient after the migration rather than only during it.

Do you stay on after the migration?

Yes. Most cloud migrations continue as managed operations; we designed, built and then ran Magrabi’s OCI estate for three years.
